Our members were treated to a taste of France today when Patisserie Poupon dropped off pastries and cakes! It is so great to have supportive neighbors, and we love being able to give our members a treat and experience some of Georgetown’s greatest cafes and restaurants.
Thank you so much, Patisserie Poupon, for thinking of us!

Are you a curent or retired World Bank employee? We need at least 10 World Bank employees or retirees to pledge at least $50 each as part of the World Bank Community Connections Fund. (Cumulative donation must be a minimum of $500.00 and no less than 10 persons.)
Please help us if you are an employee or retiree or if you know one. You can email your commitment to Claire, our Director of Development, at Claire@gmcgt.org. We need 10 commitments by March 15 so that we can apply to be reinstated for the 2013 campaign.
Today, we received a donation of blankets from the National Center on Family Homelessness and Capital Group Companies. Our guests were so happy when they saw what was in the box. I barely managed to snap a picture; half the box was gone within 30 seconds!

Some Frozen selections from Nutrisystem.

Easy to eat packaged food from Phil Gains
Not long after we put the last can of tomato soup away there is a knock at the door. Pastor Phil Gains was there with his pickup truck loaded with Nutrisystem packages that he just could not finish. He said that each month they send him more whether or not he has finished the last and that it has built up. Thanks Phil. If you happen to be attending the service at Georgetown Lutheran this weekend Tell Phil we appreciate it!

A small part of the soup donation from Anthropologie
Yesterday, Friday, February 18th, some people from Anthopologie, the store up in Georgetown Park, came by to see if we could use some soup. a lot of soup. I hesitated….”Cans?”, I asked. Yes they were cans so I said yes. Later in the day Carla Weeks came by with another Anthropologie employee and a huge cart of cans of tomato soup. Carla is the Senior Display Coordinator for our Georgetown Store. She used the cans in a display and when they retired the display they though, “we can’t just throw this away.” Thanks Carla! Thanks Anthropologie! Here’s to many more edible displays. And Carla, have you thought of displays with socks? Underwear? We can use it all.
