On October 14, 2026, The Spirit of Georgetown annual celebration will be held in the heart of Georgetown at the beautifully renovated gathering hall at Christ Church. This year’s event will be co-chaired by Charlotte Etheridge, Jackie Malkes, Alicia O’Brien, and Elena Tompkins.

The Spirit of Georgetown raises awareness about homelessness in Washington, D.C., while supporting Georgetown Ministry Center’s essential Drop-In Centers, street outreach, and seasonal emergency programs. As the number of guests accessing services continues to rise, and the complexity of care deepens, GMC remains committed to meeting our unhoused neighbors where they are with dignity, compassion, and community. As the broader social safety net continues to weaken, GMC serves as a critical source of stability and support for individuals experiencing homelessness in Georgetown and the surrounding neighborhoods.
As the only entirely privately funded homeless services organization in the greater Georgetown area, GMC is able to remain nimble and responsive to evolving community needs. Guided by a love-first model, GMC creates spaces where guests feel welcomed, valued, and seen. Spirit of Georgetown is both a celebration of GMC’s extraordinary community of care and a reflection of the urgent work still ahead
