In response to the freezing weather we’ve been experiencing in DC lately, the sanctuary of Grace Church (located at 1041 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20007 — enter through the red, wooden double doors in front of the church) will be open as a warming center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the temperature is below 32 degrees while GMC is closed for renovation. The warming center will replace the tent that has been held in front of GMC’s entryway. When the temperature rises above 32 degrees, the warming center will close and GMC staff will take guests for showers and laundry services at the various local congregations where these services are available.
Food donations are welcome, but please arrange 48 hours in advance by contacting Ashley Lane, ashley@gmcgt.org.
The Grace Church Parish Hall will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays for the duration of the GMC closing. Grace Church’s own Grace’s Table ministry serves lunch at 11:30 on Saturdays. On Sundays, GMC serves a meal at 1:30 in the Rose Room, underneath the sanctuary.
Please note that there is no bathroom access Monday through Friday, as bathrooms are reserved for children and staff of the Montessori School.
