Today, so many people of all ages, sizes, and walks of life helped Georgetown Ministry Center in many different ways. This morning, a handful of volunteers from the community joined GMC staff at Hyde-Addison Elementary School to read stories about homelessness. After the story and a short discussion about homelessness, the students paraded around the block in their Halloween costumes as part of their Help the Homeless Mini-walk. Georgetown Ministry Center thanks its volunteers and the students at Hyde-Addison for all of their help!

This afternoon at the center, we had a birthday celebration for everyone born in October. Serendipity 3 baked us a delicious chocolate cake with layers of white and dark chocolate ganache. Our guests gobbled it up in a matter of minutes; it was so delicious!

We at GMC truly appreciate everyone–young, old, individuals, and businesses– who help us improve the center and lives of the people we serve. No matter how small or large the contribution, or in what form in comes, every little bit helps. Spreading awareness about homelessness, volunteering one’s time, donating to the center: all of these are ways in which one can help.

This weekend is supposed to be cold. Stay warm and don’t forget about those who do not have a warm bed to sleep in. Happy Halloween!

On Thursday, Georgetown Ministry Center had its first-ever talent show! From singing and dancing to guitar playing, storytelling, and poetry recitations, both guests and staff strutted their stuff and had lots of laughs and fun. This first show definitely showed other shyer guests that there is nothing to be afraid of when performing in our center. We are a safe, supportive, and welcoming place!

Stay tuned for pictures. Next month we have a comedy show in the works!
